The litigants in India are now able to submit their case petitions in the Supreme Court of India online.

The service has commenced from October 2, 2006.

The petitions can now be filed through e-mail at Rs. 1.5 per page without any additional court fee or processing fee and the printing charges can be paid through any Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

Any Advocate-On-Record of the Supreme Court of India or the petitioner-in-person can file his or her case online using the service provided at www.supremecourtofindia.nic.in.

EveryAdvocate-On-Record will be given a password after registering on the website www.supremecourtofindia.nic.in to maintain secrecy and prevent any tampering of the documents.

A user-friendly programme with interactive features has been prepared by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Every Advocate-On-Record would be given a password to file counter, rejoinder, fresh petition, caveat or additional documents for the purpose, while the petitioner-in-person would have to submit the identity proof such as ration card, PAN Card, Driving License or voter ID Card. A unique reference number will be given for every matter to use E-Filing system.

Notices/communications to the parties will be sent through e-mail wherever an e-mail id is provided.

The matter filed online will have to be in conformity with the Supreme Court Rules.
